From Old to New

I was going to add these pics to the end of my last post, but that entry was already pretty enormous.  So here is my new Bible, although as characteristic of most photos, it looks better in person. It's made from a two-toned Italian leather, and feels very sturdy, yet soft. That leather ribbon in the front is actually green; not yellow (I'm not sure why it looks yellow here). The edges of the pages are silver, like the print on the front. It's a bummer that I have to cover half of my name for the picture, but it's sort of a necessary evil for me since I don't share my full name on this blog.

I've already cracked the spine. :)

Nice, large print!

Even though I love this new Bible, my old childhood Bible will always be the one closest to my heart.

I can't believe I'm finally retiring it.  It feels sort of bitter-sweet.  I wonder if my Great-Grandmother had any idea how much her gift would come to mean to me over the years.

  1. Wow, it's really pretty, Jodi! I have a few bibles, all different versions, including a pink precious moments bible I got when I was a little girl. It even has my name engraved on the cover in pink. :) I don't think I have one as pretty as this one, though. But, I must say, you've inspired me to (at some point when I'm not so busy) read the whole bible from cover to cover!

  2. That is awesome Kristyn! I can't even say how excited that makes me feel that you've decided to take on the Bible (even if it's someday in the future)! Besides, how many times have you inspired me to try something new? It's about time that it went the other way, for once. Lol. Anyway, whenever you DO decide to start, you'll have to keep me in tune with the whole process so I can cheer you on.

  3. Enjoy! That new one is beautiful! It is also one that your kids will cherish someday the way we do about our family ones.

I'm over here in Phoenix and it is hot...it's difficult to believe that hell is worse! We ARE having a good time with family and friends, however!

Let's make the best of our next three weeks!

  4. It's been hot here too, and humid! Blech. I'm ready for some of that good ole' fashion "dry heat" to come back.

I can't believe we're already at the three-week countdown. I still have so much that I want to do. Isn't it amazing that we spend the entire school year counting down to summer, and then it's gone in a flash?

At any rate, glad you're having such a great time in Phoenix! In ten days we'll be in Arizona ourselves. I wonder if there's any chance it'll be cooler by then? Probably not. ;-) Miss you Niecy--enjoy the rest of your vacation!
