Tumbleweed Days

So I ran a Chasing Echoes booth at our local Hesperia Tumbleweed Days this weekend! (I'm doing a great job of keeping my locations anonymous). This is my...third event now? My entire family hung out with me all day, helping me with my booth and giving me emotional support. Shannon was amazing. I think she single-handedly sold 80% of my books. My mom was pretty awesome too, pulling people in to watch the trailer. How am I this blessed? Anyway, here are a few pictures:

(This guy makes me feel tiny)

It was a great day (though by the end of it I was wiped out), and Tumbleweed Lakes is such a wonderful place to run a booth. There are so many trees that even at 95 degrees it never felt too hot. At least, not the kind of hot where you're seeing mirages out in the desert and stuff. Unlike my damn fever, where I was hallucinating that Voldemort from Harry Potter was trying to eat me in my sleep.

Okay, I need to let that whole fever thing go. But it was brutal, guys. B-R-U-T-A-L.

  1. So glad you are feeling better. That was a whammy - UTI, bronchitis, and pneumonia!

    1. Thanks Niecy. And yeah, it was a lot to deal with, especially when I'm usually spoiled with such good health.

  2. Dude! What the heck! I'm so glad you're feeling better, but where did all that come from?! I hardly ever get sick either, but when I do I blow a few brain cells out into tissues. Bleh!

Another dude!!! Seriously, your booth is awesome. I so want to fly you out here if I ever have a book signing so I can have a mad awesome booth, too!!

You know, I wanted when Tom Riddle lost his nose...

    1. I'm not sure where the UTI came from, but the doctor said that I was hit with the other two ailments because the UTI knocked my immunity system out, leaving me open for other invaders or some such stuff.

Thanks for the comments on my booth! If you were to put on a booth, it would be sweeeeeet. I can just picture How Deep is My Darkness and Nevermore and all your other cool books, and--oh!--giant word clouds! ;)

  3. Oh my gosh, Jodi, that's horrific!! Hope you're on the mend and back to 100% very soon! What a trooper! Maybe your body just figured it would get all that crap over with at once so you can move on and have a supremely healthy 2016?

    Congrats on your AWESOME-looking booth!!

    1. I love your theory Cheyenne--that my body's just getting through everything at once. YES. That's got to be it (please-oh-please). So cheers to a supremely healthy 2016 (for both of us, I hope!)

Thanks for the congrats on my booth!

  4. Please don't die, I totally love you!! *eh hem* I had that kind of sick earlier in the year. The older I get, the harder it is for me to kick the yuck. Unlike you, though, I get sick any time anyone even thinks about sneezing in my direction. It's ridiculous. I'm glad you feel better, that is crazy. Maybe all those years of resilience have caught up with you!

Your pics of your booth look awesome, Jodi. That book of yours is freaking awesome, I'm glad you've been able to sell so many. I love the stuff you had for sale. I wish I was near by and could go. It looked like fun!

    1. I actually thought about you while I was sick. Well I guess coughing and flem reminding me of my dear friend Kristyn doesn't sound that great, but I know you get sick often, so I was thinking "Damn, this sucks. I wonder how Kristyn does this all the time." Lol.

Thanks for the comments on my booth! I actually thought the set-up for my Jamboree Days booth in Crestline looked a little bit nicer than this one, but we were trying to fit in a "make your own necklace" station this time around, so we had to change some things around. The fact that there was so much grass and trees though totally made up for it. I wish you could have gone too...that would have made me giddy!
